Adopt Orissa

Adopt Orissa

We enjoyed the visit with Sam Stephens President of the India Gospel League last week. We accepted a BIG challenge. We are out to find 10-15 churches who will work with Indian Creek as partner churches to adopt an unreached people group in the district of Orissa. Orissa is on the East side (Indian Ocean) of India. In the district where this unreached proper group lives there are 580 villages where there is no gospel witness. He has forty church planters willing to risk everything to plant churches there. But he needs a minimum of 4 churches committing as Indian Creek did at a level of $15,000 a year for five years.

We signed up to be an anchor church to recruit the others. Eric Rochester of the Sending Project (he also attends Indian Creek) is leading the charge for us. God is up to something BIG. We found the first potential church in just two days. Two days later I found another. I put out the request to a third a day later and was met with a warm reception. Praise God! Can we find a fourth dancing partner? Do you know one? If so please let us know.

The goal is to plant a church in every one of the 580 villages. This would seem overwhelming if I didn't know that Sam and IGL has already planted 70,000+ churches in India in the last 22 years. I was with Sam the first year he cast the vision for a church planting movement that would focus primarily on rural India.

Did you know that one third of the World's poor live in India? I didn't. Did you know that 40% of the nation of 1.2 billion people are children?if you extend that to age 16 it is 50%. Wow! In other words you could change a nation in a generation if you reach the children. Will you pray with us an partner with us to reach those who've never yet heard the Good News of Jesus? As Oswald Smith said, why should some hear over and over when there are some who've never heard once. What will you do in your lifetime to fulfill the Great Commission? It is every disciple's commission. I'm all in--let's do this!
