I'm for 10:14

I'm for 10:14

At the Olathe campus of Indian Creek Community Church we have an initiative called "10:14". It is named after Mark 10:14 where the disciples saw children going to Jesus and assumed that He didn't have time for them. They attempted to shoo them away and Jesus replied, Let the children come to me for they represent the kingdom of heaven.  Jesus obviously wanted a place and a space for the children to come to Him.

We want to prioritize a place and space for children on both Indian Creek campuses. In Gardner we rent and in Olathe we've designated spaces. We want them both to be creative, inspiring, and desirable--so much so that kids want to be there and will bring their friends with them. At Olathe we are convicted there is a need to improve the spaces dedicated to children and youth. I don't have it on my "wish" list. I consider it a necessity. That's where the 10:14 project comes in.

We've identified 4 areas to improve, the check-in station in the atrium, a 4-5 grade space we want to turn into a "clubhouse", room 216 where we will build a theater stage and update the space and the Journey room which we've slated for a significant upgrade.

I know that inspiring, creative space is just one part of the need. We are addressing Spiritual Formation, the curriculum and the plan at the same time. We've identified a path for spiritual growth that leads a child from the first months through the teen years. We use it to help our Creek Kids and Journey Student ministries join efforts to increase the collaboration of the leaders, teachers and parent volunteers.

If we put the leaders and children in a great space imagine the possibilities. Below you'll find more info on the 10:14 project. So here is the last thought for now--I want to make priority investments in the next generation right now. They are not the church of tomorrow. They are the church of today. Let the children come to me...Jesus

This Sunday night, Family Night, June 30, at 6:30 pm.come go on tours and join with other Creekers in committing to create a space and place for our children. I hope to see you there!
