Meet Sam Stephens of the India Gospel League

Meet Sam Stephens of the India Gospel League

If I had a list of living heroes Sam Stephens would be up in the top section of the list. He is the President of the India Gospel League and one of our Live Out Global partners. I'm amazed that he gets to be with us. It has been over a decade since his last visit. This is rare and precious!

Sam leads a network of Indian Pastors and churches that stretches the length and width of India. In the last decade they planted nearly 80,000 new churches. Just try and wrap your mind around that! And yet Sam remains one of the most humble and godly men I know. He is everything you would hope for in a leader. Words that come easily to mind mind for Sam are visionary, strategic, passionate, gifted, faithful and empathetic

I've had the privilege of traveling with Sam twice for several weeks at a time in India. It is amazing to see the interaction between the churches and the communities. There is true transformation taking place everywhere they've been able to plant churches. It was one of the most visual evidences I've seen of the kingdom of heaven impacting earth. I saw the work of the Holy Spirit in ways I'd never witnessed before. It was like I was seeing the Acts 2 church at work. I was previously unaware how far the Western church had moved from historical, biblical Christianity. I was excited for them and sad for us at the same time.

When I came back I was motivated to live on mission every day. Those trips stand out in my nearly 50 years of serving Christ as the most catalytic experiences ever! Literally, I've not been the same.

I wish I could take every one who reads this blog to India to experience first hand what God is up to in that part of the world. We should talk more about that. But you could come hear Sam at Indian Creek on Thursday at 11-1 p.m. or Friday at 6:30 p.m. We will serve food on both occasions but if you want to eat we need your RSVP to for Thursday and for Friday.

I would love to see you there!
