National Day of Prayer 2013

National Day of Prayer 2013

We prayed as the collective church at the courthouse today in Olathe even though it was 38 degrees and raining sideways (because the wind was blowing). The best way to describe it was, it was raw! I dressed like an Alaskan and got teased as a result but at least I was warm!

Someone suggested perhaps our prayers got double credit today. I laughed even though I thought, I don't really think it was a big sacrifice compared to what many go through every day. A benefit to traveling a lot is seeing the gracious selfless service by Christ followers who face persecution, or live in third world countries, or who live on little so they can a lot away and I could go on.

I felt a little sad in my spirit that praying for an hour in the rain represented sacrifice for us as westerners. We are called here so let's thank God for what we have and serve joyfully. Every situation is different. What can remain constant is the call to go anywhere, say anything, do whatever God wants, be what He wants us to be and if the answer is--I want you to serve in Olathe, KS and pray in the rain let's do it with great, great gratitude and thanksgiving in our hearts. Let's do it with all our might. Let's believe Him for great things. Let's treat this calling like it is the most important calling in the world--because to us it is, rain or shine.
